DIPLOMA IN FILM MAKING

Course duration: 3 Months

Course Overview:

This course is designed to introduce students to the world of filmmaking, covering the five stages of the film production process: Idea and Development, Preproduction, Production, Post-production, and Distribution. Throughout the course, students will learn about filmmaking techniques, scriptwriting, cinematography, and the basics of editing. The course will culminate with a guest lecture from an active film personality, giving students the opportunity to engage in an active session with a professional in the industry.

Course Objectives:

Course Syllabus:

Introduction to Filmmaking

• Overview of the five stages of the film production process

• Discussion of the roles and responsibilities of each member of the film crew

Idea and Development

• Brainstorming ideas and developing a concept

• Creating a treatment and scriptwriting

Preproduction

• Casting actors and scouting locations

• Creating a shot list and storyboards

Production

• Setting up lights and camera

• Directing actors and capturing footage

Post-production

• Importing footage into editing software

• Basic editing techniques and workflow

Distribution

• Exporting and distributing the final product

• Discussion of film festivals and competitions

Cinematography Techniques

• Lighting and framing techniques

• Shot composition and camera movement

Advanced Editing Techniques

• Advanced editing techniques including colour grading and sound design

• Discussion of professional editing software

Final Project

• Students will produce and present their own short film

• In-class critique and feedback from peers and instructor

Assessment:
